The Campaign To End IE6

I'm generally ashamed of how far behind most of the norwegian sites are in comparison to the rest of the world
But finally we did something right.

This week our largest online market, finn.no, started a campaign to end ie6 and at the same time challenged all the other large websites in Norway to do the same.

This campaign have now spread like fire on twitter, lots of other countries followed up our example.

All you have to do to join in on the campaign is copy/paste the following code snippet on to your site.

<!--[ if lte IE 6]>
 <style type="text/css">
 # ie6msg (border: 3px solid # 090; margin: 8px 0; background: # CFC; color: # 000;)
 # ie6msg h4 (margin: 8px; padding: 0;)
 # ie6msg p (margin: 8px; padding: 0;)
 # ie6msg p a.getie7 (font-weight: bold; color: # 006;)
 # ie6msg p a.ie6expl (font-weight: normal; color: # 006;)
 </ style>
 <div id="ie6msg">
 <h4> Did you know that your browser is out of date </ h4>
 <p> To get the best possible experience using our website we recommend that you upgrade your browser to a newer version. The current version is <a class="getie7" href="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx"> Internet Explorer 7 </ a> and <a class = "getie7" href = "http://www.microsoft.com/windows/Internet-explorer/beta/default.aspx"> Internet Explorer 8 </ a> is available as a beta. The upgrade is free. If you're using a PC at work you should contact your IT administrator. </ P>
 <p> If you want to you may also try some other popular Internet browsers like <a class="ie6expl" href="http://www.opera.com"> Opera </ a>, <a class = "ie6expl "href =" http://mozilla.com "> FireFox </ a> or <a class="ie6expl" href="http://www.apple.com/safari/download/"> Safari </ a> </ p>
 </ div>
 <[endif] ->

The best site I've found to keep you updated on the campaign is http://ie6.forteller.net/index.php?title=Main_Page

Bugfix Release for Ninja Accordion

Near the end of 2008 I published a bug fix for Ninja Accordion, where a problem with the loading of custom modules 'mod_custom' existed. Unfortunately the I had a little typo in the J1.5 framework. It was the same bug as in Ninja Access.

Today I published the update to version 2.0.4. Only the Joomla 1.5 framework, so users who are using our hybrid module on Joomla 1.5.x should update.

Black Belt in Image Management.

Today we published our new extension Ninjimage[1]. It's a module for image handling images, logos or modules on a web page. Images can be positioned relative, that is they are displayed at Ninjimage's module position, but also can be placed anywhere on the site by absolute positioning.

Ninjimage Module

Ninjimage is a merge of our popular Joomla!™ 1.0.x extensions:

  • Ezee Logo
  • Ezee Image
  • Ezee Dragger

But we improved almost all available features. The biggest innovation (I think) is the possibility to display draggable modules on the page. And since it is available in two languages, English and German, this is our monthly piece for our German community I promised at the nearly end of the last year 2008.

Don't miss to throw an eye on the module[1] that has the Black Belt in Image Management.

Best Regards
Uwe Walter

Bugfix Release for Ninja Access Module

Today we published a bug fix update for the Ninja Access Hybrid Module, that is used to control access of user groups to modules. It contained a bug that affected custom modules on Joomla!™ 1.5.x installations. Under certain circumstances Ninja Access did not print the module content.
